Programs

Current Geriatric Education Center of Michigan objectives include:

  • Develop 8 regional community training teams throughout Michigan by providing 40 hours of comprehensive geriatric training to each of these interdisciplinary teams utilizing multiple educational modalities

  • Support the 8 regional training teams in the delivery of geriatrics training to healthcare professionals in their respective communities

  • Provide training in geriatrics, team building and continuous quality improvement to interdisciplinary providers and staff in the V.A. Medical Centers in VISN 11, including outpatient clinics, inpatient and geropsychiatry units

  • Develop and deliver a 25-hour interdisciplinary geriatric health literacy program emphasizing the training/retraining of health professions faculty from the public four-year universities throughout Michigan

  • Deliver CME/CE approved educational offerings to disseminate interdisciplinary geriatric and gerontological training information to health professions students, faculty and providers throughout Michigan

  • Provide geriatrics clinical training to students in health professions schools at Michigan State University
